Bill Dobrow,
is one of the most passionate drummers I know of. When I listen to his
playing on the four tracks we did in Brooklyn, I'm impressed first by the
amount of emotion in his playing! This always strikes me as unexpected,
since Bill's a bit of a character and, in a totally charming way, tends
to be off in his own world to a degree. That said, I'm continually amazed
at how emotionally connected his drumming is to the song and to the moment.
As far as this session went, Bill also surprised me in another way (and
I think himself too!) by getting very involved in coordinating things,
which is not something he's naturally inclined at all to do. Out of sheer
enthusiasm for the project, he ended up recommending and facilitating the
booking of the studio as well as the hiring of Mark
Plati, the hot engineer/producer who ended up overseeing the recording.
Awesome work, Bill!
