Hullo ... Hope everybody is making hay while the sun shines. I am writing songs ... well, fragments of songs mostly -- and then occasionally one gets finished -- love that. Some of them just want to be fragments! Wayward souls, my songs ... I just follow 'em around and see where they want to go. Nowhere? Okay, that's fine too. Some of my best friends are going nowhere.

Speaking of going nowhere, my most recent label, Eminent Records, hath bought the farm ... Lots of little labels have given up the ghost in the aftermath of the events of this past fall ... So I'm single again -- looking for love in all the wrong places.

The good news is that I'm back playing the New York City club scene pretty regularly with my new comrade, Paul Nowinski, on the upright bass. I met Paul this past summer at the Gavin AAA Radio Convention in Boulder, CO, where he was playing with Rickie Lee Jones. He tried to pick me up in the courtyard of this ritzy hotel, in spite of the fact that he HAS a cool longtime girlfriend. But I've managed to overlook all that because he's an awesome bass player with an odd, yet charming fascination for moose memorabilia. How often do THOSE come along?
