| Hey!
I just got back from the West Coast where I was doing some dates opening for Glenn Tilbrook.
It was a blast ... I like it out there. The weather could have been better -- it was actually warmer in New York during the time I was
on the other coast! -- but otherwise, it was very fun. The trip was a kind of a spiritual journey for me. It was my first tour where I was able to drive myself to all the shows. For those of you who may not know, I got my first driver's license in October. Being a hard-core Manhattanite, I got away with not knowing how to drive for many, many years. But I gradually got quite sick of having to rely on other people or (god forbid) Greyhound in order to get to my out-of-town shows. So this has been a great step forward for me -- one that has brought much new freedom. So, yeah, I drove first from Phoenix to Solana Beach, which is just north of San Diego. It was a little scary driving through San Diego because I had to make a couple of moves and people go really, really fast on those big cloverleaf superhighways. The merging on and off is nerve-wracking ... But driving in L.A. didn't turn out to be as intimidating as I thought it would be -- it was actually pretty fun. And San Francisco was pretty easy too -- although it was a pain in the ass to park, not unlike New York! The tour was a really good experience beyond the whole driving thing too. Opening for Glenn worked well. I had fun at the shows and in the times in between -- I went to the Getty art museum, had great Mexican food, went to the gym a bunch of times and got an awesome massage. Yes, I think I'm finally starting to get the hang of this touring stuff ... There should be some more out-of-town dates coming up in the new year. I'll definitely be keeping you updated. Hope the holidays are smashing ... News from earlier this year: November |October | August | June | May
